Kalama Needs Us Now!
Northwest Innovation Works LLC (NWIW), a new company backed by the Chinese government, wants to build the world’s largest natural gas-to-methanol refinery in Kalama. They would bring in fracked natural gas from Canada, turn it into methanol in Kalama, and ship it to China to make plastics to sell to the world market.
This project involves:
– Explosion risks
– Toxic air pollution
– Eminent Domain for private gain
– Increased demand for fracked natural gas
– Greenhouse gas emissions
The Port of Kalama has the power to cancel the lease with Northwest Innovation Works and pursue safer, cleaner industries for our community. Tell the Port: cancel the lease, we’ll stand with you!
Join us for a rally and march! We will end at a Port meeting where the public is allowed 2 minutes of testimony.
WHO: Locals from Cowlitz and Clark County who oppose the refinery
WHAT: Rally with local speakers, and march to the port for a public meeting
WHEN: September 14th at 4:00
WHERE: Toteff park, Kalama, WA
